Dental Care and Cleaning

  • Did you know that periodontal disease is one of the most common diseases in dogs and cats? More than 85% of dogs and cats over four years of age suffer from periodontal disease!
  • Signs of Periodontal disease in Dogs and Cats Include:
    • Bad breath
    • Bleeding gums
    • Loss of appetite
    • Scratching at the face
    • Irritability
    • Lethargy
  • Dental care is very important for your pets health, no matter their age.
  • You can reduce the risk of periodontal disease with a yearly comprehensive dental/oral examination, professional dental cleaning (when needed) and good home preventative care (including teeth brushing, dental chews/treats)
  • Our professional dental services include:
    • Professional dental cleaning, scaling and polishing, extraction of worn/ abscessed teeth, state of the art digital dental x-rays and general oral surgery procedures.
  • Home care is also extremely important and we offer many items to aid you in the care of your pet's teeth including flavored/edible toothpastes (never use human toothpaste), toothbrushes, Hills Science Diet T/D and OraVet dental chews with enzymatic properties.
  • All of these items can help to reduce tartar build-up on your pet's teeth before or after a professional dental cleaning. It is extremely important to start teeth brushing and preventative measures at an early age so that your pet gets used to them as part of their daily routine. However, not all animals will allow teeth brushing, these animals may allow a special diet such as T/D or OraVet chews instead.
  • It is never too late to start taking care of your pet's teeth; please call or come in to speak with one of our staff to discuss the best preventative care options for your pet and their teeth.
